The training is designed to run in ten modules with the aim to empower 390 Deltans but the first phase is to cater for 130 participants each across the three venues.
The Delta State Government was selected as part of a few states that fulfilled requirements through provisions of suitable venues, computer facilities, internet data, recruitment and welfare of participants as their contribution to the project, the statement said.
The Basic Digital Literacy Programme in Nigeria is a project that is co-funded by the UK Foreign Common Wealth and Development office (FCDO) in partnership with selected state governments.
The Basic Digital Literacy Training has been slated to hold across the state from Monday, November 29, 2021, in Asaba, Ughelli and Warri.
According to the Delta State, Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah noted that the initiative is in line with the agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on youth empowerment.
He mentioned that the programme is targeted at vulnerable women and girls, persons with disabilities, out of school children, non-computer literate community members and children and teenagers aged between 11 and 18 years in primary 6 and Junior/Senior Secondary Schools.
